Mary Steward

In Memory of Mrs. Mary Steward who died Nov._r ye 6th AD 1773 in ye 85th Year of her Age.

Border: Tympanum uses a formal four line bas relief border. The space between one (the edge of the stone) and two is a solid polished (positive) border that encircles the tympanum and continue down both sides of the stone. Within the tympanum, it also double backs on the tympanum between lines 3 and 4. The space between 2 and 3 has been carved out and left blank(the negative space). It appears a much more "modern" interpretation of the arches on older designs and more directly conveys the protection of their beliefs. Inside of the outer border already described, there is a carved out 1/2" border of space. Then a two line border surrounds the circumference of the tablet.
