Stone Type
slate
Tympanum
face with ornamentation
Border
Lightly etch two line thin width border extends from over the dome of the tympanum down the sides of the tablet. At the juncture of the shoulders, the line encircles the long side and bottom illustrated panels. The plant seems to be lily-like with flowers at the side panels head and a mirror position in the middle of the bottom. The dome is also bas-relief with a dome shaped negative space complementing the arch and winged face image.
Remark
The winged face is below an arch with a serrated top. The face is very realistic with good structural representations. The nose is proportional, the hair tightly pulled back and the mouth neutrally straight lined. The wings are late era tab type. The first modifications were the shaping of the feather ends from rounded to more aerodynamically incorporated into the whole. Then lines for segmentation are etched.
Physical Status
